Some of you may remember Xeddy and I discussing an uber RP, well here it is!

Chronicles of Semotus Stella : Bellum Lugeo

    3000 AD – Earth

The coming of the new millennium brought new hope for the people of Earth. The planet had become a hostile environment following the third and fourth world wars – terrorist activity became frequent, the planet had heated considerably, and the continents dwindled substantially. As such, the population of the planet had fallen to just 10 million people and that number was falling each day, neo-nuclear weapons manufacture ravaging the already dwarfed land.

As a final hope for mankind, 100’000 people were launched into space upon the Pilgrimage, the largest spaceship the world had ever seen. It housed humankind’s first prototype light speed overdrive. The select group, known as the World's End Resistance, were destined for new planets; its captain, a well-seasoned NASA veteran and older brother to the resistance's founder, he had led several successful missions to Mars and beyond and seemed their “best bet”. His name was Captain Roger Markov. It was his duty to fly these 100’000 civilians – consisting of builders, doctors, teachers, scientists, and many other important occupants – to a new planet in which they could start humankind anew.

Many people rushed to be allowed upon this wonderful new voyage to a New Beginning, and only through vigorous testing were these 100’000 chosen. Not only were their occupations taken into account, but their intelligence, genetic stability, culture, even fertility. No one aboard this flight would be over the age of 50, save for the pilots and Capt. Markov. Not even the founder allowed himself a seat. Parents were ordered to train their children in their craft since there was no guarantee of when they would reach the New World.

Life aboard the ship was rough. Anyone found to be not working would be killed on the spot; however, the resistance wasn't without its compassion. Food and clothing were provided freely – artificial agriculture units had been integrated into the ship to ensure that it could be self-sustaining and the engines used a renewable kinetic feedback source. The reasoning behind the assumed malice was simple: It was vital that everyone aboard the Pilgrimage did their duty.

    3651 AD – 651st year of travel – Pilgrimage

The voyage was not without its troubles. Many times the engines stalled and engineers frequently found themselves risking their lives to motivate the generator. Sacrifices were often made. The reigning Captain was now Captain Marcus Roberts, descendant of the legendary Capt. Roger Markov.

As the Captain, it was his duty to ensure the safe population of a new planet, and to escape from any possible alien attacks. The ship had been equipped with no weaponry as this was simply too expensive and no one believed alien life forms – if they existed – would wish them dead. Also, the common thought was that weaponry and weapons technology was the cause for their departure from the old world.

This ideal was not without its dissenting voices. A small group, believing that greed, not weaponry was the true enemy. Secretly, they theorised and developed what weapons they could with their limitations – at the helm of this, Jacqueline Biggs, a psychoanalyst and engineer. She had originally made the notion that the new humans would need to be ready to defend themselves and police the populous, but this was ignored out of the fear of returning military factions.

It was within this fateful year that those ideals were put to the test.

Now a long way from home, the Pilgrimage was drifting through space. A possible planet had been sighted for the first time since the voyage had begun and ecstasy surged through those still living upon the great ship. The men, women, and children aboard the vessel had only heard tales of a planet which could inhabit life. They had studied the history of Earth in the school facilities, yet still some found it impossible to believe there could be life outside of this ship.

Nearing the planet though, had triggered a counter-attack from its terrified inhabitants. Communication with this alien race had ended in failure, so to secure the safety of the crew, the Pilgrimage turned to other options. The minority rose up and mounted enough of a defence for the Pilgrimage to be redirected. They turned tail and fled the first battle in a long age without weapons. In an act of respect, the shunned "military radicals" were honoured, the sacrificed commemorated.

Upon its retreat, the Pilgrimage's engines stalled again from abuse and the denizens found themselves hopelessly drifting into a worm hole, taking them toward the unknown. Worm holes were by and large, avoided. Very little information was known about them and it was always seemingly random where they exited them, or “popped out” as was the common term aboard the ship.

After finally exiting the worm hole after 3 tenuous months of blind and directionless travel, the Pilgrimage found itself, miraculously, transported to a solar system in which two twin planets surrounded a brilliant sun. The two planets’ simultaneous gravitational pulls caused them to orbit one another upon a central axis. They were identical in size, and – from the distance of the ship – both were able to inhabit life.

Setting his vessel down upon the largest continent of one of the new planets, Capt. Marcus Roberts named it Novus Orsa, or New Start. The sun which warmed the planet was named Semotus Stella, Distant Star, and the Twin planet, Concero Terra, Twin Earth. These names would later be shortened to just Orsa, Stella and Concero.

{287AT} 287th Year After the Arrival to the New Planet
(AT or Anno Templum, After Sanctuary)

Several explorers were sent to Concero to judge whether this twin planet should also be inhabited. It was there that they met the Exter. A very primitive race, they had seen the spaceship arrive nearly 300 years ago and had hidden away from it, fearing an ominous threat. The Exter looked very similar to the humans who inhabited Orsa save for their fur-covered skin, larger ears and wider eyes. Although communication was difficult, the explorers learned that these Exter were primarily nocturnal; their larger eyes and ears allowing for the intricate sounds and sights of the night to be easily visible for them, their fur also kept them warm – especially in the bitter cold of winter.

    1595AT

After many years of struggle and strife, the Exter and Humans have learned to communicate with one another, [English] being the interplanetary language, and work in union. They each have their own political systems and tend to keep to themselves. Technological breakthroughs are shared, and many exploration groups have consisted of both races. Through the technical expertise of the Humans, the Exter have undergone rapid evolution and correspondingly, the Humans have adapted much better physical aptitude in competition with the Exter. The Exter’s superior night-sighting – as they call it – coupled with the Humans vast intuition make a team of both races ideal for around the clock exploration.

The Humans have adopted a Monarchical system, in which the now distant descendants of the legendary Capt. Roger Markov and Capt. Marcus Roberts still rule. The current leader is Dux Ducis Elisabet Markov – her surname causing her to be revered above all past rulers.

The Exter chose instead to belong to a Democratic system in which every 5 years, a new leader is elected. Their current leader is the Matriarch Eli Tryraa. Though the system is a complete democracy, only female Exter are eligible to ascend to this honoured position.

A new space station which sat in the central axis has finally been completed in this year. It is a unique construct in that it possesses no module to maintain orbit. A newly developed generator absorbs the planetary gravitation of both Concero and Orsa to provide power and it uses the same mechanism to stay afloat. The space station allows for neutral scientific ground in which the Exter and Humans can work together to create greater cures for the vast new diseases the denizens were encountering through interaction. It has been dubbed Suo.

    1600AT

Peace has endured between these two races since the Humans had found them and the Exter owed them much, however, it is upon this year in which everything changed.

Scientists from both races were working upon the Suo to create a new cure for the deadliest of viruses, the dreaded "slow death." It would later be officially dubbed the "Cruciatus Nex", aptly named due to how it caused the sufferer to die a painful torturous death, effects which steadily progress up to 5 years. Most of the ill took their own lives before the Crux could. The initial symptom of the disease caused the heart to slow considerably and sufferers found themselves tiring quickly. Soon after, the lungs would constrict and breathing became a heavy burden, eventuating in a burning sensation through excessive wear. The mix of a slower heart rate and labored respiration caused the victim to worsen their own health from exhaustion as the simplest of tasks could soon become harsh endeavors; the Crux then ate away at the sufferer’s musculoskeletal system, slowly causing paralysis. At the end of its lifecycle, the viral entity would weaken. This occurs only after a victim has no healthy cellular tissue to sustain it. However, due to the excruciating circumstances, no single Exter or Human has lived long enough for their entire forms to be devoured. Aside from euthanasia and suicide, the next common cause of death recorded was cardiac or respiratory arrest.

No one understands how (though it was rumoured that dirty dealings were the cause), but a mild form of the virus – kept within the Suo to be injected into volunteers to test for cures – somehow escaped from the Neutral Space Station. Carried aboard ships, it quickly infected both of the planets on a scale never before seen. Although not air born contagious, any transfer of bodily fluids could pass on the disease. This, like the disease, also progressed to make those advanced in the disease become "walking agents" of infection.

The civilians on both planets quickly revolted, some demanding to know why such a dangerous microbe was being stored in Suo, others blaming their opposite species for its creation. Both sects wanted blood, and hate crimes ran rampant. Under extreme threats of riot and chaos, the Matriarch and Dux Ducis feared eventual anarchy and had no choice but to declare war on one another for the possible salvation of order. Meanwhile, a mutual group would be created to eradicate the disease, calm the panicked masses, and do whatever is necessary to return peace. The first great war of Orsa and Concero was underway.

    Character Creation:
    • You may create as many characters as you like, just be sure to post as all of them as frequently as possible.
    • When creating them, you must follow the format – posted below – and stick closely to the races’ given characteristics.
    • Remember, thus far there have been no interracial relationships so no Exter/Human hybrids.
    • There is no time limit on when characters have to be made by, but the RP will begin in a week.
    • Ensure you read everything written below before creating your character.

Name: Preferably First and Last names. Feel free to state Middle names and/or nicknames, if you wish. For humans, try not to make them too exotic, for the Exter though, you may go wild!
Age: There are no limits on the age, but ensure that your speaking voice represents your character age, if you decide to create a young child, don’t have them use super-long words, unless they’re a child prodigy.
    Race: Pretty self-explanatory really.

    Spoiler: Human

    Spoiler: Exter

Birthplace: Your planet of birth will depend on your race: Orsa for Humans, Concero for Exter. Create or choose a city upon your planet in which your character was born. Information about the capital cities are listed in the respective spoilers.

    Spoiler: Orsa (Humans)

    Spoiler: Concero (Exter)

    Gender: Male or Female.
Appearance: Describe attire, looks, physique, etc. You can also link a pic, saving some time – though be careful when linking for an Exter.
Occupation: Include your Occupation – dependent on the race you chose – and if you’re a military operative, also state the weaponry you use – all information is written within the spoilers. (Note: While not explicitly stated, every military personnel will carry some form of firearm for personal protection.)
    Spoiler: Humans

    Spoiler: Exter

Alignment: Do you defend your own race? Or believe it was they who released the disease? Simply state whether you’re for the Humans or the Exter. Neutral means one of two things:
    I. You’re working as a terrorist to continue this chaos in the name of anarchy or some other counter-peace measure for a reason you will have to define.
II. You’re one of the group trying whatever it can to stop this war.
The Crux: Are you infected with this fatal disease? Just type “infected” or “clean”.

Erm, so like yea, add this to the end of your char sheets, too ya?

    Background:

    ^.^

Name: <Hunter Biggs> (Also: ビッグソ藏虎 “Biggs Tsanghu”)
    Age: 36
    Race: Human
    Spoiler:

Birthplace: Wild Endeavor Isle – Named after the location of the Time Lord citadel from the Old Earth popular science fiction program Doctor Who, which was recently resurrected on OBC 3. *Orsa Broadcasting Company*
    Spoiler: Orsa (Humans)

    Gender: Male
Appearance: Medium-length jet black hair, naturally spiked, but slightly wavy. Dark blue eyes with brown halos around the outer rim of the iris. Muscular build from military training.

He carries a gold locket given to him by his uncle, Captain of the Bravo Siege Unit. He’s been upgraded with a nanoscopic communications device embedded in his left ear for virtually unjammable contact with HQ. Out of his exo-suit, he typically wears a standard black military vest, navy slacks, black boots, twin portable wrist-mounted RADAR/SONAR gauntlets, and bears a crimson cross designation on his right shoulder.
    Occupation: Special Ops
Small divisions of the most talented or most experienced veteran troops comprise this group. The typical member has served at least five consecutive years and undergone espionage and intense counter-response training.

Special Ops use exo-suits that conform to the body’s natural dexterity while providing near equivalent protection to the massive Hulks of the Seige class. Weapon systems vary per unit as each personnel is adept at his/her own combination of skills. Older models require an assembly chamber; this has been modified by the creation of mobile assembly chambers called Walkers, though each can be custom named by its respective user. Newer models employ grid-access mapping activated by remotes unique to each.

Displays act as visors and can display trajectory, velocity, both self and enemy units, a targeting grid with magnifier PiP, munitions supply and maximum payload, among other customisable features.

Personnel of this class have full access to all technological advances to better their performance in missions.
    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
    Armour =
    Spoiler:

That basic shape, but minus all the big anime jutted out bits. Smooth them down. =P

Weapons = Twin shoulder-mounted concussion turrets that can be concealed within shoulder guards. Each turret is armed with impulse bolts that pierce or adhere to any surface and direct their explosion into the surface, the moment of the bolt drawing as much damage and resulting shrapnel it can further into the surface.

Gauntlets open around forearm to reveal rotary gatling guns. Orb implanted into palms double as close-range disabling units or mid-range EMP charges. *EMP function drains suit significantly and may even create backlash*
Alignment: Commissioned by her lordship, the Dux Ducis, to lead the unnamed counter-war nonentity, he commands his unit with an iron hand, calculating and distant. However, his troops know him to have a compassionate heart and spiritual nature.
    The Crux: Nein.
    Background:

Born to a Chinese mother and a descendent of the Biggs line, young Hunter grew up in a very politically yet spiritually active household. He was educated in early on in diplomacy and psychology by his father, Dean Christopher Biggs, and learned of human corruption and greed along with Exter etiquette and conditioning. From his acupuncturist mother, he was taught about spiritual balance, herbal prescriptions, and meditation. As he grew, he would encounter many people: the ill of body, ill of mind, greedy, naïve, stern, brooding, etc. With the lineage of his father came many ties to military and politics, most of which would harden him to the shady real world atmosphere.

Eventually, he began taking to military, his boundless energy providing enough drive to undergo their preliminary tests. Though his parents had wanted a more suitable life for him, Hunter could not be swayed and quickly advanced in rank from Soldier to Siege. His uncle, having been watching his outstanding nephew’s performance, placed him on his taskforce for a stint, though he knew Hunter would surpass this position easily. Still, he provided as much mentoring as he was able, training Hunter to be precisely aware of his surroundings, his tools, and how to place munitions for the most devastating results.

At 34, Hunter advanced into the Special Ops, where he became leader of his own troop for the first time. With all his education behind him, he successfully led several missions, though most of the early victories met with substantial losses due to his poor guidance. This would be mitigated somewhat by fellow Special Ops Commander, Darien Cade, who would later be placed in Covert Ops sometime during the interplanetary war.

Soon, Dux Ducis herself took notice of Hunter’s performance and secretly commissioned him to lead a new group not to be held on record. This group would work behind the war, hopefully to bring about peace.

Re: Signup: Chronicles of Semotus Stella : Bellum Lugeo

    Name: Dux Ducis Elisabet Markov
    Age: 34
    Race: Human
    Birthplace: Markovia
    Gender: Female
    Appearance:

    Spoiler: Dux Ducis Elisabet Markov

Just minus the Elvin ears and the tattoo.

    Occupation: Reigning Dux Ducis.
    Alignment: For the humans.
The Crux: Many fear she has the virus, though no major symptoms have presented themselves.
Background: As the only daughter of Dux Ducis Charles Markov, she was taught her regal duties from a very young age. Her birth caused the tragic death of her Mother, but she has never blamed herself for it. She was weak from the Crux – before the breakout had begun – and everyone knew that Elisabet’s arrival would kill her. As a consequence, Elisabet took her Mother’s name and now fights fiercely bring peace between the two warring planets. She does not know who is to blame, but she will protect her planet with her life. Elisabet believes that only in peace can the cure be found.

Another travesty struck her but four years ago as her Father also died from the Crux. As very little information of the disease was known, many feared Elisabet would also die a similar death, believing it to be genetic. After the breakout though, that feeling changed and Elisabet found herself protected much more feverishly. Huge tests were carried out before anyone could come in close contact with her. They were a nuisance, but highly necessary. Elisabet was pregnant.

Her husband, Nicholas Campbell, had insisted that her surname be taken upon their wedding, and so the Dux Ducis remained a Markov. Their child was expected to arrive within the next month and so protection of Elisabet had increased. Her main duties at the moment revolved around gathering intelligence from her Generals as well as organising her off-record group. No one knew about this secret group, not even her Generals or husband. The Dux Ducis made herself the “middle-woman” in the affairs, and passed on intelligence gathered to the select few warriors.

Re: Signup: Chronicles of Semotus Stella : Bellum Lugeo

OOC: I've decided, since it'd probably happen anyway, that the two rulers will be controlled by bee and I. Therefore, here is my Eli Tryraa profile, Matriarch of Concero Terra.

    Name: ~₪Eli Tryraa₪~
    Age: 25
    Race: Exter
    Spoiler:

Birthplace: Vizier – Small city outside Y’alta.
    Gender: Female
Appearance: Long wavy dark navy/black fur appears almost like hair, but shorter fur runs from her neck down the entirety of her back, branching from her spine at each rib and around the nape and shoulders, but revealing light skin underneath. Furless on upper arms, but there’s a coat of short dark navy fur over the outer-facing portion of each forearm, with a soft white undercoat covering the rest. Claws are dulled for diplomatic and non-combatant protocol. A small patch of undercoat covers the region under ribs and comes to a point at the navel. At ribs, the fur meets the dark navy from the ribs at the back. Calves have the same fur as forearms, dark fur to the front and undercoat to the back, though they reach over feet, which are raised to toes. Black/brown padding along the heel, thicker toward the toes. Claws are long and curved to dig into the ground, but may be retracted when indoors.

Eli wears the traditional garb of the Matriarch, but only when in the midst of her council and constituents. This consists of a white tunic, one red flower worn on the head, towards the right side, and cherry blossom-embroidered draping sleeves, hooked to the tunic only at the front and back of the shoulders.

Off-duty, she prefers a black silk two-piece, a shorter version of this only tighter like this. And she has wears a black this *the viera on the right* to round out her casual wear.
Occupation: Current elected Matriarch of all Exterkind.
    Alignment: For the Exter
The Crux: None, though her daughter tests positive for an early strain of a similar virus, which has notably been reconfigured by the Crux on several occasions, therefore, she fears her young one will be a victim, as well. Her late husband has a recessive trait passed to their daughter that weakens her innate defence against viral infection.
    Background:

The child of an A’Ruhaxia and Andalia, Eli was aware of both the proper mannerisms of her people and the world of its undesirables. Her father had taught her the deeply philosophical and stubborn culture of her people, their static resolve in following custom and protocol. She grew up a proper lady, as displayed toward others. However, underneath the veil of upper class etiquette was a calculating maverick, nurtured by the abominated tactics of her mother, one of the Andalia’s most respected warriors.

She would use this unique personality to draw many suitors, though she would remain chaste and pure, a front to pave the way for a new beginning for the Exter. Her attractive body and her alluring voice would hook her one of the most unsuspecting of men, the son of her preceding Matriarch, Grivan Siak. Her ties to Grivan pulled her into the political world of her people; the knowledge that she was daughter to one of the A’Ruhaxia only bolstered this position. At 16, she was wed to Grivan, though female Exter retain their surnames after wedlock, unlike “those silly Humans”.

A few years later, as Matriarch Shien Siak’s reign came to a close, a bold Eli Tryraa took to the stage, announcing her candidacy, already gathering support. Her flavorful words and melodic tone drew the masses and from the get-go, it seemed she would undoubtedly win the election. Sure enough, she bested her opponents and became the youngest Matriarch in recorded Exter history.

Then, one day, following the fifth birthday of her daughter, Alaiya, Grivan fell in battle. The news was excruciating to Eli, but she maintained her poise in the face of her constituents, a broken heart hidden away like the rest of her secret heart. Only three years later, during the anniversary of the Crux outbreak, Alaiya was found to have contracted a latent form of the deadly disease, though it had yet to be mutated by the potent strain. It was discovered that Alaiya possessed a recessive trait that weakened her immune system substantially, making it even more likely for her to contract the Crux. Heartbroken, she confided in the Venoch for a miracle.

This miracle would come in the form of interplanetary secret alliance. The Dux Ducis of Orsa extended negotiations with the Matriarch of Concero in order to create an elite group dedicated to stopping the fighting and finding a cure for the incorrigible viral plague. Led by the Dux Ducis’ hand-picked personnel, a Hunter Biggs, the two world leaders formed the band of their greatest troops, extending the qualification to all sects of military and research. Hopefully an end would be found to the madness.

Never really got into that series, but I do think you mentioned this the first time I brought up the idea of it when you had that thread about getting the RP brains together.

To be honest, I think the storyline's complexity's gonna scare a few people away, but hey, if Ty and Kazei join up, we'll have five RPers.
